Problem Solving
Scaling Matrix Operations for Data Analysis
Delta College STEM Girls Rock 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MIJoin David Redman to explore using linear regression and learn how an application of linear algebra organizes a problem that it can be solved effectively even when it is scaled up to a much larger problem. David Redman is a professor in the mathematics discipline at Delta College, constantly in awe of the way mathematics […]
Engineering Challenge
Delta College STEM Girls Rock 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MIJoin Chemical Engineer, Jennifer Larimer, to build a solution to an engineering challenge. Participants will create a unique solutions and demonstrate how their creation achieved the goals of the challenge. Jennifer is a chemical engineer with 10 years experience in process research and design.
Circuit Building
Delta College STEM Girls Rock 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MIBuild a functioning burglar alarm circuit using a breadboard, battery, resistors, transistor, LED, and alarm. When the circuit is interrupted (such as a window being opened) the LED will light and the alarm will sound.
Solving Problems Created by STEM Solutions
Delta College STEM Girls Rock 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MIJoin Denise Hill and Lauren Smith to explore the ethical side of science in this session that will review some the newest STEM breakthroughs (self-driving cars, solar-radiation management, Sophia the very-human robot, facial recognition software, gene editing, genetically modified (GM) mosquitoes, etc.). Participants will work together to analyze a specific tech in terms of its […]
