A Cookie Mystery Whodunnit: Crack the case using Chromatography and other Analytical Techniques!

Ernie Keefler needs your help! Someone has snuck into the Keefler Bakery and messed with all the baking powders. They have left a hand-written note along with three mystery bags of white powder. Ernie Keefler’s™s investigation team has gathered up samples of different white powders found at the Bakery along with samples of the three mixtures and the hand-written note. Using Chromatography and other simple Analytical techniques you will crack the case and figure out which mystery mixture is the cookie recipe and whodunnit!

Michelle Rivard has been with Dow Inc for 23 years. The last 16 years working as an Analytical Chemist/Technologist within the Separations Group. She is a silicone-materials measurement science expert, mastering analytical characterization techniques including gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and Brunauer Emmet and Teller. Michelle has a Biochemistry degree from Central Michigan University and is on the advisory board for Delta’s Chemical Tech program. She is a huge advocate for STEM and volunteers with the Midland ACS Outreach STEM programs. Michelle is the recipient of the 2018 National Chemical Technician Award (NCTA) from the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the 2019 E. Ann Nalley Central Region Award for Volunteer Service.
